People Are Calling Netflix’s New Movie The Worst Crime Thriller Ever

american crime

It’s not a great Monday for the production team behind Netflix’s new crime thriller The Last Days of American Crime, who are waking up to a rare 0 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Rick Remender and Greg Tocchini, it follows career criminal Graham Bricke (played by Edgar Ramírez).

As a final response to stop terrorism and crime in the country, the U.S. government plans to broadcast a signal making it impossible for anyone to knowingly commit unlawful acts.

Graham, who was never able to hit a big taking, teams up with famous gangster progeny Kevin Cash (Michael C. Pitt), and black-market hacker Shelby Dupree (Anna Brewster), to commit an audacious heist – and the last crime in American history – before the signal goes off.

The movie – helmed by Olivier Megaton, who directed Taken 2 and Taken 3 – was released on the streamer on Friday. Already, the critics score on the movie-rating website Rotten Tomatoes reads a disappointing 0, based on 18 reviews.

“Yet another insipidly sleazy, lizard-brain shoot-’em-up that through its very dullness demonstrates how rote such ghastly fare has become in our culture,” said Vulture magazine.

“A braindead slog that shambles forward like the zombified husk of the heist movie it wants to be, The Last Days of American Crime is a death march of clichés that offers nothing to look at and even less to consider,” critiqued Indiewire.

The film also stars Anna Brewster (Credit: Netflix)

“It’s an offensive eyesore in which looting and anarchy are treated as window dressing, law and order come in the kind of mind control, and police brutality is so pervasive as to warrant a trigger warning,” said Variety.

The audience rating score, based on 71 reviews by Netflix viewers, reads a slightly better 21 percent – however people still aren’t happy.

“45mins into The Last Days of American Crime on Netflix and I hope it gets better cos so far it’s sh*te,” one person tweeted.

“I’m not one to normally leave negative reviews, but if you’re scrolling through Netflix and come across The Last Days of American Crime then DO NOT WATCH IT! It is awful!” warned another.

The Last Days of American Crime might be the worst fucking movie I’ve watched in a decade. Netflix has no shame pushing this garbage.

One went as far as to say the film “might be the worst f*cking movie I’ve watched in a decade” adding: “Netflix has no shame pushing this garbage.”

Ouch!

The film joins the other 42 films in the Rotten Tomatoes 0-rating hall of shame, joining the likes of Jaws: The Revenge (1987), Cabin Fever (2016), London Fields (2018) and Scar (2007).

The film may have received some bad – ok, erm, diabolical – reviews online, but another man’s trash is another man’s treasure an all.

If you do fancy giving it a first-five-minutes stress test, you can watch The Last Days of American Crime on Netflix now.
